St. Ann’s by-the-Sea
Open Communion
St. Ann’s is a compassionate, welcoming community in the Episcopal tradition where people of all faiths are invited to join us for worship and fellowship. Whether a local resident, a seasonal resident or a visitor to our community, you are welcome to worship with us and participate in the Holy Eucharist. We invite you to bring canned goods, toiletries, or diapers to services so that we might all share our bounty with those in our community who are less fortunate.
Meditation and Reflection
The picturesque location of St. Ann’s, on a rocky point at the mouth of the Kennebunk River overlooking the ocean and beaches is an ideal spot for meditation and reflection. The property and historic chapel are open daily to all visitors from sunrise to sunset. This peaceful respite is an inviting place to wander through gardens, enjoy a picnic, or simply enjoy the serenity and ocean breezes.
St. Ann’s Day-by-the-Sea
Young children from a local childcare program come for a summer field trip and a memorable day of special activities and a picnic lunch on the beautiful grounds of St. Ann’s. The day also provides an opportunity for St. Ann’s families and friends to join together for a service project.
Outreach in the Kennebunks and the Diocese of Maine
Mindful of the stewardship entrusted to us, members and friends of St. Ann’s actively reach out to support those less fortunate, both locally and in the Diocese of Maine. Outreach activities are supported through direct contributions, special gifts, and the entire proceeds of the St. Ann’s Annual Fellowship Outing. We invite you to join the St. Ann’s community in providing assistance through the following organizations:
- Community Harvest, providing holiday meals to residents of the Kennebunks and Arundel
- Christ Episcopal Church in Biddeford in Biddeford, in support of their “Seeds of Hope” program aiding needy families and local food pantries
- St. Elizabeth’s Essential Pantry in Portland, providing non-food items to needy families
- Preble Street Resource Center, providing a range of services including housing, food, and counseling in Portland and Cumberland County
- Wayside Soup Kitchen, providing access to food throughout southern Maine through community-based volunteer meal programs and in collaboration with other hunger organizations providing food
- Equest (now known as Carlisle Charitable Foundation), providing scholarships for students with special needs who participate in equine-assisted therapy and adaptive programs at Carlisle Academy.
- Church Community Outreach Services, Inc., providing a range of services for the Kennebunk community.
- The Bishop’s Fund for the Diocese of Maine
- Holiday Food Baskets providing holiday meals to those in need in our community
If you are visiting on Sunday morning, please bring canned goods, toiletries, or diapers to support our work with Christ Episcopal Church in Biddeford and families in need in that community.
